What if there are more than 2 travellers in my group?

The tour stays fully private for any group size, and the price per person drops as the group grows. In 3-star hotels it is US$1,015 for 2 travellers, US$825 for 3, US$773 for 4–5, US$664 for 6–7 and US$612 for 8–9. In 4-star hotels: US$1,097, US$907, US$855, US$746 and US$694. In 5-star hotels with a 6-star cruise: US$1,348, US$1,158, US$1,106, US$997 and US$945. For 10 or more, ask us for a quote within 24 hours.

Is this a private or group tour?

Private. Only you, your travel companions, your guide and driver. The tour can start on any day and the itinerary can be changed freely.

Are domestic flights included?

No. The flights Hanoi–Da Nang (Day 3) and Da Nang–Ho Chi Minh City (Day 6) are not included in the US$1,015 price. We can book them for you at the current economy fare and add them to your quote.

Is airport pickup included?

Yes. Your guide and driver meet you at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on Day 1, and every transfer, including the Day 8 drop-off at Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, is by private air-conditioned vehicle.

Can I choose 4-star or 5-star hotels?

Yes. The tour comes in three hotel classes. 4-star (from US$1,097 per person for 2): Golden Silk Boutique Hotel in Hanoi, Sunny Ocean Hotel & Spa in Da Nang, Royal Hotel Saigon and a 4-star cruise with a jacuzzi suite. 5-star (from US$1,348): Proverb Hotel Hanoi, Meliá Vinpearl Danang Riverfront, Hotel Grand Saigon and a 6-star cruise with a private balcony cabin. The itinerary, guides and meals are the same in every class.

What is the best time to take this tour?

October to April has the most comfortable weather across all three regions. Halong Bay is at its best from October to December and from March to May.

What do children pay?

Infants aged 0–2 travel free (no extra bed). Children aged 3–10 pay 68% of the adult fare when sharing their parents' bed, 86% with an extra bed, or the full adult fare in their own twin room. From age 11, the full adult fare applies.

Do I need a visa for Vietnam?

Citizens of the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, the Nordic countries, Japan, South Korea and several other European countries can enter Vietnam visa-free for up to 45 days. Most ASEAN citizens get 30 days (Philippines 21, Brunei 14). Everyone else, including US, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and Indian passport holders, needs an e-visa: apply online at the official portal evisa.gov.vn, valid up to 90 days, US$25 single entry or US$50 multiple entry, usually issued within 3–5 working days. To confirm your tour, pay a 30% deposit by bank transfer or by Visa, Mastercard or Amex through a secure OnePay payment link that we email to you. The remaining 70% is due at least 14 days before you arrive. The deposit is non-refundable. If you cancel (in writing) more than 21 days before departure, you lose only the deposit, and any amount paid above it stays valid for 12 months towards another tour. From 7 to 21 days before departure the charge is 50% of the tour price, and within 6 days or for a no-show it is 100%. Hanoi Arrival — Welcome to Vietnam's Charming Capital

Arrive in Hanoi, meet your private guide, and explore the historic capital on a half-day city tour.

Your guide and driver welcome you at Noi Bai International Airport and transfer you into the city. Today's highlights include the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum complex and Ba Dinh Square, the Presidential Palace, the One Pillar Pagoda, and the Temple of Literature — Vietnam's first university, founded in the 11th century. We finish with a walk through the Old Quarter, stopping at a famous café for Hanoi's unique egg coffee. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner of authentic Vietnamese cuisine.

Hanoi → Halong Bay — Overnight Cruise on a World Wonder

Cruise among the 2,000 limestone islands of UNESCO-listed Halong Bay, learn to roll Vietnamese spring rolls and sleep on board.

After breakfast, drive about 2.5 hours by expressway to Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. Board your cruise around midday, check into your private cabin and enjoy a fresh seafood lunch as you sail among towering limestone karsts.

In the afternoon, explore one of the bay's most beautiful caves, then swim or relax at a white-sand beach (swimming April–October, weather permitting). Back on board, join the chef for a Vietnamese cooking class on the sundeck: learn to roll fresh and fried spring rolls (nem) as the sun sets over the bay, then enjoy them as a starter at dinner on board.

Halong Bay → Noi Bai Airport → Flight to Da Nang

Sunrise on Halong Bay, a last cruise through the karsts, then an afternoon flight south to the beach city of Da Nang.

Start the day with Tai Chi on the sundeck as the sun comes up, then kayak or take a bamboo sampan into Luon Cave, a hidden lagoon ringed by limestone cliffs. Brunch is served on board as the boat sails back to the harbour, arriving around 10:30–11:00.

Your private driver takes you straight to Noi Bai International Airport, about 2.5 to 3 hours by expressway, arriving around 14:00. Fly to Da Nang (about 1 hour 20 minutes), where your local guide meets you and takes you to your hotel. If you land before sunset, take an evening stroll on My Khe Beach, a 10-minute walk from most city hotels.

Flight tip: book a Hanoi–Da Nang flight departing after 16:00. That leaves time for check-in without rushing from the bay. Not sure which flight to choose? We can book it for you at the current fare.

Da Nang → My Son Sanctuary → Hoi An by Lantern Light

The Cham ruins of My Son by morning, the UNESCO-listed streets of Hoi An by lantern light.

Drive about one hour to My Son Sanctuary, the ruins of the ancient Cham Kingdom set in a jungle valley and often called "the Angkor Wat of Vietnam." After lunch in Hoi An, take a walking tour of the Ancient Town: the Chinese Assembly Hall, the 200-year-old Tan Ky ancestral house and the iconic Japanese Covered Bridge. From the 16th to 18th centuries Hoi An was a thriving international trading port; today its tailors, riverside cafés and yellow merchant houses make it many travellers' favourite stop in Vietnam.

Stay on into the evening, when hundreds of silk lanterns are lit along the old streets and the Thu Bon River. You can float a paper lantern on the river from a small boat (optional, paid locally) and have dinner at your own choice before the 45-minute drive back to Da Nang.

Ride one of the world's longest cable cars to Ba Na Hills and walk the famous Golden Bridge.

Today, ascend Ba Na Hills (30 km from Da Nang) by cable car and walk across the world-famous Golden Bridge, held aloft by two giant stone hands. Explore the French Colonial Village and the Le Jardin d'Amour flower gardens, enjoy an international buffet lunch, and have fun at Fantasy Park before descending. On the way back, stop at Han Market for shopping.

Flight to Ho Chi Minh City — Saigon City Tour

Fly to Vietnam's largest city and tour its French-colonial landmarks and war history sites.

After breakfast, fly to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam's largest city. In the afternoon your guided city tour covers the Reunification Palace, the moving War Remnants Museum, the French-colonial Central Post Office, Ben Thanh Market, and the exteriors of Notre-Dame Cathedral (currently under long-term restoration) and the Opera House. The evening is free to explore Saigon's famous street food.

Mekong Delta Day Trip — My Tho & Ben Tre

Cruise the Mekong River, ride a sampan through coconut canals, and taste tropical fruit at the source.

A full-day excursion (8:00–17:00) to the Mekong Delta. Visit Vinh Trang Pagoda, then board a boat past stilt houses, fruit plantations and fishing villages. Lunch in an orchard garden on Tortoise Islet, followed by a hand-rowed sampan ride through narrow palm-shaded canals, seasonal fruit with honey tea, southern Vietnamese folk music, and a visit to a family workshop making coconut candy. Return to Saigon in the late afternoon.
