Pnom Penh - Royal Palace - SOSORO Museum - Independence Monument - Central Market - Wat Phnom ( Full Day )

After breakfast at the hotel, we begin our day with a visit to the Royal Palace compound, built in 1866 by the predecessors of King Norodom. This stunning complex is one of the most prominent features of Phnom Penh, showcasing impressive and colorful Khmer-style architecture. Nearby, you’ll find the Silver Pagoda (The Emerald Buddha Temple), which houses a remarkable collection of Buddha statues adorned with diamonds, emeralds, gold, and silver.
Next, we explore the newly opened SOSORO Museum, Cambodia's Museum of Economics and Money. SOSORO offers a unique perspective on the country’s history, highlighting the interplay between money, the economy, and politics.
We then visit the Independence Monument, constructed in 1954 after Cambodia gained independence from French colonial rule.
At noon, we head to the Central Market, a grand building constructed in 1937 in the shape of a dome with four wings branching into vast hallways lined with a wide variety of goods. The design is the work of French architect Louis Chauchon. Afterward, we continue shopping at the Russian Market, where you can experience the bustling daily activities of the locals.
Finally, we visit Wat Phnom, the "Mountain Pagoda," a Buddhist temple located on a hill. According to legend, the first pagoda was built in 1372 to house four Buddha statues deposited by the Mekong River and discovered by Lady Penh. Wat Phnom remains a popular spot for locals, whether for relaxation, prayer, or simply enjoying the sunset.
