After a short rest we embark on an orientation bicycle ride of the Lao Capital making our way around some of the city’s most historic sites and seeing some of it’s classic architecture including the old Presidential Palace, Vientiane’s oldest temple Wat Sisaket, with it’s thousands of miniature Buddha statues, and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image.

Heading for the waterfront your evening is free to enjoy a few drinks watching the sunset over the Mekong River, explore the Night Market and take in some of the city’s nightlife. Overnight in Vientiane.

Breakfast, we visit Laos’s national icon, That Luang Stupa, stopping along the way to take pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph.  Not far from That Luang Stupa is the National Museum, formerly known as the Revolutionary Museum, which exhibits artifacts, photos and legends of Laos’s fighters and leaders from ancient times to the revolutionary, Phathet Lao, period.

Late afternoon we board our short flight to the UNESCO World Heritage City of Luang Prabang, which is perhaps the best preserved traditional city in Southeast Asia. On arrival we transfer you to your hotel.

After a short rest we will climb to the top of Mount Phousi to explore the sacred gilded stupa and to enjoy the panoramic view of the city and the sun setting over the Mekong River.
