Hanoi Golf & Halong Bay Tour 6 Days: Legend Hill, Kings Island, Phoenix & Sky Lake
Four rounds of 18 holes on four different courses, with a day on Halong Bay in the middle to rest the shoulders. The twin greens of BRG Legend Hill straight off the plane, the island fairways of BRG Kings Island on Dong Mo lake, a private boat among the limestone islands of Halong Bay, then the karst valley of Phoenix and the Sky Course at Sky Lake. One hotel in Hanoi for all five nights, so you unpack once, with your own vehicle, driver and guide throughout. US$1,341 per person for 2 golfers in a 3-star hotel, with green fee, caddy and a shared buggy on all four rounds and the Halong Bay day included; larger groups pay less.
Price per person
Per person in US dollars, twin/double share, for one private departure with four weekday rounds (Monday to Friday) and the Halong Bay day. Every adult in the table plays golf. Group size is the number of adults travelling together.

Itinerary, day by day
Your guide and driver meet you in the arrivals hall at Noi Bai International Airport with a World Mate Travel sign. Clubs and suitcases go into the vehicle together, and instead of driving into the city you stay north of it: BRG Legend Hill Golf Resort is in Phu Linh, Soc Son district, a short drive from the airport, which is why this is the round to play on arrival day.
Legend Hill opened in 2015 and was laid out by Nicklaus Design as an 18-hole, par-72 course in rolling, wooded hills. It was the first course in Vietnam built with twin greens: every hole has two putting surfaces, and the club decides which one is in play on the day, so the same hole can ask for a quite different approach from one round to the next. Buggies are shared, two riders to a cart, and both the caddy fee and the buggy are inside your price.
After the round there is time to shower and eat at the clubhouse at your own expense before the drive of about 45 minutes into Hanoi. Check in at your hotel; the evening is free. Overnight in Hanoi.
Flight times: this day works only with a morning arrival — plan on landing by about 10:30 for an early-afternoon tee time. If your flight lands later, we move this round to the morning of Day 6 (the course is on the airport side of the city) and Day 1 becomes a straight transfer to the hotel, at the same price.
Breakfast at the hotel, then about an hour's drive west — 50 kilometres — to Dong Mo lake near Son Tay, at the foot of the Ba Vi range. BRG Kings Island is the oldest golf club in northern Vietnam, opened in 1993, and it is reached the way its name suggests: you leave the vehicle at the jetty and cross to the clubhouse by the club's boat, clubs and all.
The resort has three courses. Lakeside, by Robert McFarland, is the original, with the lake in play on nearly every hole. Mountainview, by Pacific Coast Design, is the more open of the older pair, with wide fairways running towards Ba Vi. The Kings Course, by Jack Nicklaus II, opened in 2018 and is the longest and the most heavily bunkered. Your round is 18 holes on the course the club allocates when the tee time is confirmed; tell us at booking if your group has a preference and we will request it.
Lunch is at the clubhouse at your own expense. You cross back by boat and return to Hanoi in the late afternoon. Overnight in Hanoi.
A day without clubs. After an early breakfast you leave Hanoi by the expressway for Halong, about two and a half hours to the harbour. Your boat is a private one — a traditional wooden day boat for your group alone, with your guide on board — and it sails for four hours into the part of the bay that UNESCO inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 1994: some 1,600 limestone islands and islets rising straight out of green water.
The boat stops at Dau Go Island, where a flight of steps leads up to Thien Cung, the Heavenly Palace Cave. It was found only in 1993 and runs about 130 metres into the island, a single high chamber of stalactites and stalagmites lit along a paved path; the walk through takes around 40 minutes, with stairs at both ends. From there you cruise past the Fighting Cocks, the pair of rocks that is the emblem of the bay, while a seafood lunch is served on board.
To be plain about what this day is: four hours covers the nearest and best-known corner of the bay, which is also its busiest, and there is no time for kayaking or a beach stop. It is also about five hours on the road there and back. What you get in return is the bay itself, from your own boat, without giving up a night in Hanoi or a round of golf. Back at the hotel in the early evening. Overnight in Hanoi.
After breakfast you head west out of Hanoi for about an hour and a half — 60 kilometres — to Luong Son in Hoa Binh province, where Phoenix Golf Resort lies on a valley floor walled in by limestone hills. Having seen the real thing yesterday, you can judge for yourself the name golfers give this place: Halong Bay on land.
Phoenix opened in 2006 and, with 54 holes, is among the largest golf complexes in Vietnam: the Phoenix Course, a links-style layout; the Dragon Course, in a Korean style; and the Champion Course, in a Japanese style. Your round is 18 holes on the Phoenix Course. If your group would rather play Dragon or Champion, tell us at booking and we confirm what the club can offer and the difference in green fee.
Lunch is at the clubhouse at your own expense. With a morning tee time you are back in Hanoi in the late afternoon. Overnight in Hanoi.
After breakfast you drive about an hour south-west to Chuong My district, where Sky Lake Resort & Golf Club sits around Van Son lake among low wooded hills. The club opened in 2012 and has 36 holes in two 18-hole, par-72 courses. The Lake Course is kept for members; visitors play the Sky Course, and that is the one in your programme.
The fairways of the Sky Course are generous off the tee, but the ground rises and falls throughout, water comes in on a good number of holes, and the bunkering around the greens punishes an approach that is merely close. It is a good course to finish on, after three rounds to get used to the grass and the caddies' way of reading a green.
Lunch is at the clubhouse at your own expense. You return to Hanoi in the late afternoon for a last free evening in the city. Overnight in Hanoi.
Breakfast at the hotel and a morning with no tee time. Depending on your flight there is room for a walk around Hoan Kiem Lake, a coffee by St Joseph's Cathedral, the Temple of Literature, or simply a slow start and an unhurried pack.
At the time agreed with your guide, your vehicle collects you and your clubs from the hotel for the transfer of about 45 minutes to Noi Bai International Airport. Check-out is at 12:00; a late check-out or an extra night can be arranged on request.
Every day can be changed — tell us what you'd like to add or skip.

Frequently asked questions
From US$1,341 per person for 2 golfers in a 3-star hotel, twin share, including four weekday rounds with green fee, caddy and shared buggy, and the private Halong Bay boat day with lunch. The price drops as the group grows, to US$1,007 per person for 8 to 9 golfers; for 10 or more, ask us for a group quote. With 2 golfers, 4-star is US$1,406, 4-star boutique US$1,444 and 5-star US$1,535 per person. The single room supplement is US$113 to US$282 depending on hotel class. Prices are valid for travel in 2027, except Tet, Vietnamese public holidays and the New Year peak.
Yes. The vehicle, driver, English-speaking guide and the Halong Bay boat are for your group only, and the vehicle is sized for your golf bags as well as your seats: a 7-seater up to 3 passengers, a 16-seater for 4 to 7, a 29-seat coach for 8 to 24 and a 45-seat coach above that.
It is a day trip from Hanoi, not an overnight cruise: about 2 hours 30 minutes each way by expressway and four hours on a private wooden day boat, with a stop at Thien Cung Cave (stairs at both ends) and a seafood lunch on board. It covers the best-known corner of the bay, which is also the busiest, and there is no time for kayaking or a beach stop. If the port authority closes the bay because of fog, wind or a storm warning, we swap the day with a golf day where the clubs allow, or refund the unused boat, ticket and lunch.
Yes, if you land by about 10:30. BRG Legend Hill is a short drive from Noi Bai airport, so the first round is played on the way into Hanoi. If your flight lands later, we move that round to the morning of Day 6 before your departure flight, at the same price. Tell us your flight times when you book.
Daily breakfast at the hotel and the seafood lunch on the Halong Bay boat are included. Lunch on golf days is at the clubhouse after the round and dinner is in Hanoi, both at your own expense, so nobody is tied to a set menu or a set hour after 18 holes. Dinners, including a welcome or farewell dinner, can be added on request.
Green fee, caddy fee and a buggy shared by two players are included on all four rounds, on weekdays. Club rental, balls, golf shoes and the caddy tip (customary 300,000 to 500,000 VND per caddy per round) are not. Weekend and holiday rounds carry club surcharges. All four clubs expect a collared shirt, tailored trousers or shorts and soft spikes; denim is not accepted.
Yes. A companion who does not play shares the hotel, vehicle, guide and the Halong Bay day and pays a lower fare without the green fees, quoted on request; a guided Hanoi city tour while the golfers are on the course can be added. Children under 3 travel free. Children aged 3 to 10 pay 68% of the adult fare sharing their parents' bed or 86% with an extra bed. Junior golfers are accepted at each club's discretion and at its junior rate, and clubs may ask for a handicap certificate for players under 16.
