Day 1: Arrival in Chiang Rai (-)

Upon arrival in Chiang Rai, enjoy some free time to explore the city at your leisure. Wander its relaxed streets and begin soaking up the local atmosphere. Overnight stay in Chiang Rai.

Day 2: Chiang Rai Highlights & Mae Kok River Cruise (B)

After breakfast, visit the local market to explore an array of fresh produce and local specialties. Continue to Wat Phra Kaew, once home to the revered Emerald Buddha, and then to Wat Phra Singh, known for its exquisite Buddha image. Next, explore the surreal Baan Dam (Black House), an eccentric art complex by Thawan Duchanee. In the afternoon, take a scenic boat cruise along the Mae Kok River to a Karen village where you can observe and feed elephants. Return to Chiang Rai for the night.

Day 3: Chiang Rai – Mae Salong – Chiang Saen (B)

Depart for the mountainous region of northern Thailand. Drive through lush hills to Doi Mae Salong, known for its tea plantations. Enjoy a tea tasting session before visiting the Akha ethnic village of Loyo. Later, explore the Mae Fah Luang botanical gardens. Continue to the Golden Triangle and enjoy a boat trip on the Mekong River, where the borders of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar converge. Overnight in Chiang Saen.

Day 4: Chiang Saen – Thaton – Chiang Mai (B)

After breakfast, head to Thaton with a stop in Patai village to meet the Padong Karen people, recognized for their distinctive neck rings. Visit a traditional Chinese medicine pharmacy for insights into herbal healing practices. En route to Chiang Mai, stop at Chiang Dao to explore the intricate network of underground caves. Arrive in Chiang Mai and check in for the night.

Day 5: Chiang Mai Old City & Doi Suthep Temple (B)

This morning, take a walking tour of Chiang Mai’s charming old city, featuring remnants of its walls and moat. Visit iconic temples including Wat Phra Singh, Wat Phan Tao, and Wat Chedi Luang. Enjoy a rickshaw ride through quiet lanes and explore Warorot Market. In the afternoon, ascend to Doi Suthep to visit the revered mountaintop temple and take in panoramic views. Spend the evening exploring the vibrant Night Market. Overnight in Chiang Mai.

Day 6: Thai Cooking Class & Mae Ping River Cruise (B, L)

Join a group cooking class at Thai Farm Cooking School. Visit a local market, learn about herbs and spices at an organic farm, and prepare authentic Thai dishes including curry, soup, noodles, and dessert. Afterward, enjoy a leisurely two-hour cruise on the Mae Ping River, passing traditional teak houses and lush riverside landscapes. Return to the hotel and relax. Overnight in Chiang Mai.

Day 7: Doi Inthanon National Park Adventure (B, L)

Set off for a full-day excursion to Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest peak. Trek through jungle trails, passing waterfalls, coffee plantations, and terraced fields before reaching a Karen hill tribe village. Taste locally grown coffee and experience the village lifestyle. Visit the dramatic Vachiratharn Waterfall and admire the twin pagodas built in honor of the Thai King and Queen. Return to Chiang Mai in the evening.

Day 8: Chiang Mai – Departure (B)

Enjoy free time until your airport transfer for your onward journey.
