It was founded by Gia Minh, a businessman-turned-monk who spread Buddhism across various islands before settling in Phu Quoc. Although it was severely damaged during wartime in 1945, it was reconstructed in 1955 by monk Minh Uc. A major renovation took place 40 years later, preserving the legacy of its founder.
