What this means for Sapa tour bookings

If you have a Sapa programme arriving in Sapa between 20 September and 27 September 2026, the Fansipan summit visit cannot run as planned. Sapa town and every other Sapa attraction stay open. Three options are available:

1. Reschedule the Fansipan day to 28 September or later. If your travel dates allow, we move the Fansipan day to the reopening window and the rest of the itinerary runs unchanged.

2. Substitute the Fansipan day with an equivalent Sapa highlight. We swap in Cat Cat Village plus the Lao Chai and Ta Van valley trek, the Rong May (Dragon Mây) Glass Bridge at O Quy Ho Pass, Silver Waterfall plus Ham Rong Mountain, or the Sapa Stone Cathedral and Wholesale Market. Pricing is comparable and we send the revised quote the same day.

3. Shift the whole Sapa segment outside the closure window. Move the Sapa portion of the trip to before 20 September or after 28 September. Hotel re-booking is handled on our side.

For confirmed bookings already inside the closure window, we rework the itinerary at no admin fee. See our Vietnam Tours for the Sapa programmes we run year-round.

What you can still do in Sapa during the closure

Sapa is a working town and trekking base. The Fansipan summit is one attraction of many. During the closure week the following are open as normal:

  • Cat Cat Village — Black H'mong village at the foot of Fansipan Mountain, accessible on foot from Sapa town.
  • Lao Chai and Ta Van valley trek — the classic Muong Hoa Valley walk through Black H'mong and Giay ethnic villages, terraced paddies, suspension bridges. Around 2 hours of walking on a clear path.
  • Rong May (Dragon Mây) Glass Bridge at O Quy Ho Pass — one of the highest glass bridges in Vietnam at 2,333 m above sea level, with sunset views over the Hoang Lien Son range. Operates independently of Sun World Fansipan Legend.
  • Silver Waterfall (Thac Bac) — a 200-metre cascade on the Sapa - Lai Chau road. Short photo stop.
  • Ham Rong Mountain — the landscaped mountain park overlooking Sapa town, with orchid gardens and the famous viewpoint over the town and the Hoang Lien Son range.
  • Sapa Stone Cathedral (Notre Dame du Rosaire) — the granite Catholic church on the town square, dating from 1895.
  • Sapa Wholesale Market — H'mong textiles, brocade, mountain herbs, local produce.
  • Moana Cafe Sapa — Bali-style swings and statues against the mountain panorama, one of Sapa's most photographed viewpoints.
