Many Tourists Surprised by the Rapid Recovery of Tourism in Sa Pa

Sa Pa, a famous tourist destination in northern Vietnam, is quickly regaining momentum after Typhoon No. 3, thanks to the close cooperation between the community, businesses, and local authorities.

Reopening Tourism with Absolute Safety

After nearly a week of mobilizing all military and civilian forces, the infrastructure and transportation systems affected in Sa Pa have been promptly restored, ensuring that major roads are clear and safe for travel. Tourism businesses and accommodation facilities are also taking advantage of this time to upgrade their destinations, improve the landscape, and enhance the quality of services and experiences for visitors.

Sun World Fansipan Legend is upgrading its landscape to welcome visitors back.

Mr. Do Van Tan, Deputy Chairman of the Sa Pa Town People's Committee, stated: “Sa Pa is actively working to recover from the impact of Typhoon No. 3. Alongside stabilizing livelihoods and restoring production, we are particularly focused on reviving tourist sites.”

On September 13, the Sa Pa People's Committee officially reopened tourist attractions after conducting thorough safety assessments. Notable tourist spots such as the Sun World Fansipan Legend cable car area, Silver Waterfall, Ta Phin Stone Garden, Green Valley, Dreaming Rose Garden, Golden Stream - Love Waterfall, Ham Rong Mountain, and Cat Cat Village have gradually reopened to welcome visitors starting from September 13.

The return of these famous tourist sites not only demonstrates the efforts of local authorities but also reflects the determination and spirit of the people of Sa Pa, embodying the belief that "nothing is impossible." The swift restoration and upgrading of these destinations have provided a new, attractive, and safer experience for tourists, allowing them to enjoy wonderful and memorable moments in Sa Pa.

Positive Feedback from Tourists

Many tourists, both domestic and international, have expressed surprise and satisfaction with Sa Pa's impressive recovery speed. Many noted that they not only enjoyed the breathtaking landscapes of the Northwest but also felt the attentive care and improved quality of service.

Ms. Nana from Thailand, one of the first international tourists to return to Sa Pa after the storm, shared in the Fansipan cable car cabin: “Before the trip, I was quite worried, but upon arriving here, I felt completely at ease. The weather is beautiful, and everything has been restored perfectly as if there had never been a storm. We are still able to experience the famous attractions as expected.”

Tourists come to experience the May Village, which recreates the living space of the ethnic groups in the Northwest.

Venerable Thich Chung Tinh, currently on a charity trip from the South to the North, visited the spiritual complex on the sacred Fansipan Mountain to pray for those affected by natural disasters: “We may not share the same circumstances, but we share the same goals and work together to preserve and protect peace. Today, for the first time, I reached the sacred peak of Fansipan—not only to admire the scenery of the highest mountain in Southeast Asia but also to sincerely pray for the people to overcome difficulties and recover smoothly after the storm. Fortunately, the weather is very favorable, with fluffy white clouds and clear roads.”

Ms. Mai Phuong, a Vietnamese expatriate in the US, expressed her strong impression of the quick recovery efforts and the hospitality and optimism of the locals: “I believe that visiting Sa Pa is also a good way to support the people here in returning to their daily lives.”

Among the hundreds of tourists arriving in Sa Pa after the storm, there are both Vietnamese and international visitors from Southeast Asia, India, and Taiwan. This demonstrates the strong attraction of Sa Pa as one of the most appealing destinations in the world. It also reflects tourists' confidence in the local recovery efforts following the storm.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Vu, Deputy Director of the Sun World Fansipan Legend tourism area in Sa Pa, shared: “As the first unit to reopen and welcome tourists, we want to convey a message of optimism and a strong spirit of resilience in Sa Pa, and in Lao Cai more generally. After the rain, the sky clears up. We believe that with the unity and cooperation of the business community, local residents, and authorities, as well as our efforts to refresh the services at our destinations, both domestic and international tourists will return to Sa Pa, and tourism in Sa Pa will soon flourish again.”
